Sweet smell of success for young Georgia

A FORMER Our Lady’s Catholic College pupil has told how she has reaped the rewards of an apprenticeship with a local confectionery firm.
Georgia McDevitt, 19, arranged the apprenticeship with Goody Goody Stuff through Lancaster & Morecambe College.
And Georgia, from Heysham, is backing the 100 in 100 campaign launched by the Lancaster Guardian in conjunction with the college.
It aims to persuade local firms to take on 100 new apprentices in 100 days.
Georgia has been working in business administation since May with Goody Goody Stuff.
The firm, which moved from Salford Quays to new premises on Penrod Way, Heysham, earlier this year, specialises in gummy sweets for vegetarians.
It makes them using natural fruit and vegetable extracts instead of animal-based gelatine, E numbers and allergens.
Georgia’s role has included answering the phone, dealing with emails, accepting deliveries, filing and processing invoices. “I’ve enjoyed the apprenticeship so far and I have learned a lot,” she said.
